Jasmine
My sister Jasmine and I have been making paintings together since we were both teenagers. From the very first time we worked together, in a bedroom upstairs in our childhood home, Jasmine’s presence steadied mine and I found I could spontaneously see more clearly, more fully, when with her, looking at her.
Now I look at these paintings and see Jasmine's spirit shining through in them. In some way, the challenge of my life as a painter has been finding that same calm, clarity and liberation in my relationship to the job of inviting spirit into a painting, when painting from other models, from the sculptures in my studio, or from my imagination, without Jasmine there to illuminate the way.
